The Sympathy offered me is more than just touching and it has certainly lessened the pain of being parted from my Maureen.
The personal messages written in a lot of cards I received reached parts of me I thought were buried deeply and I am left grateful to have had the good fortune to have been married to someone of whom so many thought so kindly and affectionately.
Some cards were in a light vein and i am sure Maureen enjoyed those.
By the way I understand some who saw the flowers and wreaths in the Crematorium Grounds were puzzled by the presence of an arrangement of Brussels sprouts. That was a “family” thought by our neighbours from Copthorne, where we lived before coming to the Midlands. Maureen had an extraordinary liking for Brussels Sprouts and after one Christmas Dinner with them, Maureen fell asleep in her chair, whereupon the then young sons of the family adorned Maureen with a bowl of the left over sprouts and promptly photographed her in all her glory, sprouts and all! Maureen slept through it all! It became a family joke & Maureen was never allowed to forget.
I will be deeply grateful if you will pass on my “thank you” to the Centre Committee and all members of the Centre for the great number of cards and messages of sympathy received.
I trust this small appreciation will convince everyone of the high regard both of us had for the Worcestershire Centre; a sentiment that remains with me of course, and the essential role it has played during, practically, the whole time Maureen and I had together.
Sincerely,
Fitz
Now that some days have passed since Maureen left us, I can tell you of the depth and volume of the sympathy shown, not only by our families and neighbours where we have lived for the past twenty four years, but in addition of that which came from the caravanning fraternity. For most was the warmth and comfort that came from our friends of the Worcestershire Centre. Should not have been surprised at that surge of sympathy and it was heart warming to get it. The wreath from the Centre was particularly poignant.
Thank you
